(Open Field Activity)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><b>Mobility (Open Field Activity)<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><b>Introduction<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Photobeam Activity System (San Diego Instruments, San Diego, CA) is used to monitor mobility. \u00a0This system records activity as a sum of photobeam breaks set in a 4x7 grid within a set period over a defined period of time. \u00a0The current system is configured to accommodate one cage per session and is comprised of a lower, mobility grid and an upper, rearing activity grid. \u00a0Both nocturnal and daylight activity can be assessed as the number of ambulations per hour. \u00a0However, we have found a simple 5 minute activity paradigm can distinguish genotypes of mice at older ages. \u00a0Mobility is therefore assessed for a five-minute period on three consecutive test days. \u00a0All data is recorded by San Diego Instruments Software, and can be exported to Microsoft Excel of Access databases.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Variables<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Phase length<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fine (partial) beam breaks versus actual (complete) beam breaks<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Running 2 mice simultaneously on one mobility grid, OR 1 mouse on both mobility and rearing activity grids<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Running 1 mouse up to 24 continuous hours<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Prices and Guarantees<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All charges are based on tech time at $59.40 per hour per technician<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The investigator is responsible for cage per diem costs.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All procedures must be approved on the requesting investigator\u2019s protocol.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight:
